Islamabad Token Tax Calculator 2026-27 (ICT Excise)

This token tax calculator Islamabad gives the motor vehicle tax on a car or motorcycle registered with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Excise and Taxation Department. Since the Finance Act 2026 took effect on 1 July 2026, a car above 1000cc pays 0.25% of its invoice value up to 2000cc and 0.35% above it. A car up to 1000cc pays a flat Rs 20,000, which the official schedule marks as a lifetime token.

Excise also collects federal income tax with the token, and the amount depends on engine size and filer status. Enter the engine size, invoice value and filer status to get the token, the federal amount and the total. The token tax calculator Islamabad runs the code below.

How the Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Works

The tool starts with the vehicle type. A motorcycle pays a lifetime token by engine size, and an electric vehicle pays nothing. A car moves on to the engine size check.

Up to 1000cc the tool applies the Rs 20,000 lifetime token. Above that it multiplies the invoice value by 0.25%, or by 0.35% from 2001cc. It then adds the federal income tax for your engine band and doubles it for a non-filer.

The token is the same for filers and non-filers. ICT charges a non-filer twice the federal amount, where Punjab charges three times. The table shows the token and the federal tax together.

One-Time or Annual Token Tax in Islamabad

The Rs 20,000 token for cars up to 1000cc is a lifetime payment, and cars above 1000cc pay every year. Several guides call the Rs 20,000 annual, but the official ICT fee schedule marks it “LifeTime”. Reading it as yearly would cost a small-car owner Rs 180,000 more over ten years.

The Excise homepage describes the 2026-27 payment for larger cars as the annual token tax. In the app the “Tax Paid Upto” date moves forward by one year when you pay. A small car with a lifetime token should show no yearly renewal, so check that date on your own record.

Motorcycles pay a lifetime token. The schedule lists no federal income tax for them. Cars up to 1000cc pay the lifetime token, and the schedule lists a federal amount of Rs 10,000 for a filer.

Motor Cabs, Goods and Passenger Vehicles

Motor cabs with up to seven seats pay a small yearly token by engine size, not a percentage of invoice value. The rates run from Rs 600 up to 1000cc to Rs 4,200 above 2500cc. The invoice-value system does not apply to them.

Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Examples With Interpretation

Six cases cover an 800cc lifetime token, three yearly bands, the 2001cc step and a used-car purchase. Each shows the tax due, with the non-filer total in most. All use the 2026-27 ICT Excise schedule and rounded invoice values.

An 800cc car, lifetime token

The token is Rs 20,000 once. A filer adds Rs 10,000, so the total is Rs 30,000. A non-filer pays Rs 20,000 federal tax and Rs 40,000 in all. Most of a small car’s tax falls due at the start.

A 1,300cc car with a Rs 4,000,000 invoice

The token is 0.25% of the invoice, which is Rs 10,000. A filer adds Rs 2,500 and pays Rs 12,500 a year. A non-filer adds Rs 5,000 and pays Rs 15,000. PakWheels puts the old fixed amount for this band at about Rs 4,000.

A 1,800cc car with a Rs 7,500,000 invoice

The token is Rs 18,750. A filer adds Rs 4,500, so the total is Rs 23,250. A non-filer pays Rs 27,750. The same car in Punjab pays Rs 22,500 in token alone.

A 2,200cc car with a Rs 9,000,000 invoice

At 0.35% the token is Rs 31,500. Add Rs 10,000 and a filer pays Rs 41,500. A non-filer pays Rs 51,500 because the federal part doubles.

Edge Case: 2000cc vs 2001cc in the Token Tax Calculator Islamabad

With a Rs 6,000,000 invoice, a 2,000cc car pays Rs 25,000. A 2,001cc car pays Rs 31,000. One cc moves the token from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000. Read the engine size from the registration book.

A used car with an unpaid year

A seller’s record shows a “Tax Paid Upto” date a year old. For a 1,300cc car with a Rs 4,000,000 invoice, the buyer must clear Rs 12,500 for a filer, plus any penalty. Check the date before you pay the seller.

Code Snippet: Token Tax Calculator Islamabad in JavaScript

The function keeps every rate in a constant, so a budget change needs one edit. It rounds the token to the nearest rupee and returns zero for an electric vehicle. It does not cover motor cabs, goods or passenger vehicles.

// Islamabad (ICT) token tax, 2026-27 (ICT Excise fee schedule).
// Private cars: Rs 20,000 lifetime up to 1000cc, 0.25% of invoice to 2000cc, 0.35% above.
const rs = (n) => Math.round(n);
// Federal income tax collected with the token: [max cc, filer Rs]. ICT non-filers pay 2x.
const FILER_TAX = [[1000, 10000], [1199, 1500], [1299, 1750], [1499, 2500], [1599, 3750], [1999, 4500], [Infinity, 10000]];
const NON_FILER = 2;
// Motorcycles pay a lifetime token by engine size.
const BIKE = [[200, 1000], [400, 2000], [Infinity, 5000]];

function carTokenTax({ cc, invoice = 0, filer = true, electric = false }) {
  if (electric) return { token: 0, federal: 0, total: 0, lifetime: false };
  const lifetime = cc <= 1000;
  const token = lifetime ? 20000 : rs(invoice * (cc <= 2000 ? 0.0025 : 0.0035));
  const base = FILER_TAX.find(([max]) => cc <= max)[1];
  const federal = filer ? base : base * NON_FILER;
  return { token, federal, total: token + federal, lifetime };
}
const bikeTokenTax = (cc) => BIKE.find(([max]) => cc <= max)[1];

// carTokenTax({ cc: 1300, invoice: 4000000 }).total -> 12500
// carTokenTax({ cc: 2200, invoice: 9000000, filer: false }).total -> 51500

The output is an estimate, not an assessment. Arrears and penalties are not included. The app shows the final amount.

How to Pay Islamabad Token Tax Online

  1. 1
    Sign in

    Open the PAK App and sign in. The app works only for smart card holders.

  2. 2
    Find the payment

    Open the Federal tab, choose Excise and Taxation, then Pay Token and Challan Fee.

  3. 3
    Check the breakdown

    Enter the registration number and compare the breakdown with this calculator.

  4. 4
    Pay the PSID

    Choose 1Link, pay the PSID, then check that "Tax Paid Upto" has moved forward.

After you run the numbers, pay through the PAK App or at the Excise office in Sector H-9. In the app, sign in, open the Federal tab and choose Excise and Taxation, then Pay Token and Challan Fee. Enter the registration number, review the breakdown and choose 1Link to get a PSID.

Pay the PSID through mobile banking, an ATM or internet banking, then check that the “Tax Paid Upto” date has moved forward. The app works only for smart card holders, so an old registration book needs an Excise visit first. The office opens Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The 1 October deadline and penalties

The Excise homepage asked owners to pay the annual token before 1 October, or a penalty applies, and offered a 10% rebate until 31 July 2026. Both have passed, so a payment now carries a penalty and no rebate. No penalty rate was found; the app shows it separately.

The same page says Excise cancelled vehicles of tax defaulters up to 2015 in its system. Unpaid dues stay with the vehicle and surface at transfer, verification and resale. Clear them before you buy a used car.

Using a Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Safely: Official Channels Only

The Excise homepage warns that only its own website and the PAK App are official, and that other sources are illegal. Some guides still name the City Islamabad App and the ONE App, so check the current channel on the Excise site. Never pay a PSID that shows another registration number.

Agents who offer to cut the invoice value or skip a fine are asking for a false record. Keep the paid challan, because it is your proof at verification and transfer. Do not type a CNIC or card number into any online calculator.

Common Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Errors

Most gaps between a calculator and the PAK App come from one input. Check the invoice value and the engine band first. Rates are rarely the cause.

Symptom

Likely cause

What to do

Total far below the app

Invoice value left out

Enter the recorded invoice value

Small car billed Rs 20,000 again

Lifetime token read as yearly

Check the “Tax Paid Upto” date

Total above the app

Non-filer selected

Check the Active Taxpayer List

Old car taxed on its low market value

Market price assumed

The tax follows the recorded invoice value

A difference of a few thousand rupees usually means the Excise record holds another invoice value. Ask the department to correct the record. Do not pay a different figure.

Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Rates: This Year vs Last Year

The Finance Act 2026 replaced fixed amounts by engine size with a percentage of invoice value for most cars. Officials told the National Assembly committee that ICT rates had stood still for about seven years. The jump is largest for cheap engines with high invoice values.

Toyota Corolla Altis Grande 1.8 (1798cc)

These figures come from a PakWheels comparison that used current invoice prices. Your own bill depends on the invoice value recorded for your car. The token tax calculator Islamabad asks for that number too.

What the Token Tax Calculator Islamabad Leaves Out

The tool covers token tax and federal income tax only. A new registration adds a registration fee of 1%, 2% or 4% of vehicle value by engine band, and electric vehicles are exempt. Transfer, Capital Value Tax and late-registration charges are separate.

Charge

Rate in the ICT schedule

Registration fee

Late registration, 61 to 120 days

Rs 60,000 up to 1000cc, Rs 120,000 to 2000cc

Late registration is the costly one. The schedule starts the fine at the 61st day, and it rises with engine size and delay. Register the car inside the window, and use the Excise fee calculator for the full cost. For an imported car, the car import duty calculator covers the duty before registration.

Islamabad vs Punjab: Token Tax Compared

For the same invoice value, Islamabad charges less token tax than Punjab. Its percentages are 0.25% and 0.35%, against 0.3% and 0.4% in Punjab. The table shows the token only.

Car and invoice

Islamabad

Punjab

1,300cc, Rs 4.5 million

Rs 11,250

Rs 13,500

1,800cc, Rs 7.5 million

Rs 18,750

Rs 22,500

2,200cc, Rs 9 million

Rs 31,500

Rs 36,000

Punjab also charges Rs 20,000 for cars up to 1000cc. Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan use fixed amounts instead. The token tax calculator covers all five jurisdictions, and the Punjab token tax calculator covers Lahore.

The federal part also differs for non-filers. ICT doubles the filer amount, and Punjab triples it. A 1,300cc non-filer pays Rs 5,000 federal tax in Islamabad and Rs 7,500 in Punjab. A calculator that copies Punjab’s multiplier overstates the Islamabad bill.

Token Tax Calculator Islamabad FAQs

Seven answers follow, each opening with the direct answer. They rest on the ICT Excise schedule, the homepage notices and Finance Act 2026 coverage. Where guides disagree, the official schedule decides.

Islamabad token tax is 0.25% of the invoice value for cars from 1001 to 2000cc and 0.35% above 2000cc, plus the federal income tax for the engine band. Cars up to 1000cc pay a flat Rs 20,000 marked as a lifetime token. A 1,300cc car with a Rs 4,000,000 invoice pays a Rs 10,000 token plus Rs 2,500 federal tax as a filer.

Cars up to 1000cc and motorcycles pay a one-time lifetime token under the official schedule, and cars above 1000cc pay every year. Some guides still call the Rs 20,000 annual. A lifetime token should not show a yearly renewal on your “Tax Paid Upto” date.

The Excise homepage asked owners to pay the 2026-27 annual token before 1 October 2026, so a payment made now carries a penalty. The tax year runs from 1 July to 30 June, according to guides. A car registered mid-year may be pro-rated.

Yes, but only on the federal part. ICT doubles the filer amount for a non-filer, while the token is the same for both. A 1,300cc non-filer pays Rs 5,000 federal tax instead of Rs 2,500.

No. The ICT schedule lists electric vehicles as exempt from token tax, and the registration fee is also listed as exempt. The calculator returns zero for an electric vehicle.

No. The percentage applies to the invoice value on the Excise record. A car’s model year and resale price do not enter the calculation.

Use the vehicle verification service on the Excise website, enter the registration number and read the “Tax Paid Upto” date. Save a screenshot of the result. The PAK App shows the same date after you sign in.

Conclusion

The token tax calculator Islamabad needs the engine size, the invoice value and your filer status. A filer with a 1,300cc car and a Rs 4,000,000 invoice pays Rs 12,500 a year, and an 800cc car pays Rs 30,000 once. Compare the result with the PAK App breakdown before you pay.

Rates change each July, so run the calculator again after every budget and Finance Act. For other provinces, use the token tax calculator. The Pakistan tax calculators hub lists the other taxes.
