Token Tax Calculator Pakistan 2026: All Provinces
A token tax calculator gives you the annual motor vehicle tax on a private car in Punjab, Islamabad, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Balochistan from a few inputs. Enter the province, the engine size in cc and your filer status. Punjab and Islamabad also ask for the invoice value, because both now charge a percentage of it on cars above 1000cc. The result shows the provincial token, the federal tax collected with it and the total on the receipt.
The same 1,300cc car with a Rs 4.5 million invoice pays Rs 16,200 in Punjab and Rs 13,750 in Islamabad. It pays Rs 4,500 in Sindh, Rs 5,500 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rs 3,900 in Balochistan, all as a filer. Rates follow the 2026-27 fiscal year, and each province’s own portal gives the final figure.
How the Token Tax Calculator Works
The calculator, also searched as an excise tax calculator, adds three charges to one receipt: the provincial token, the federal tax and, in Punjab only, a Rs 200 professional tax. The excise office collects the federal tax with the token as advance income tax under Section 234 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. The provincial token depends on the province, the engine size and, in Punjab and Islamabad, the invoice value. All figures are for private cars.
Step 1: Choose the province and enter the cc
Pick the province where the car is registered, because each one runs its own schedule under the West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1958. Enter the engine size in cc exactly as printed on the registration book. Band edges matter, since a 2,001cc car pays a higher percentage than a 2,000cc one in Punjab and Islamabad. Balochistan also asks for the age of the car.
Step 2: Add the invoice value
Punjab charges 0.3% of the invoice price for cars from 1001cc to 2000cc and 0.4% above 2000cc. Islamabad charges 0.25% and 0.35% in the same bands. A car with a Rs 6 million invoice pays Rs 18,000 at 2000cc and Rs 24,000 at 2001cc in Punjab. Use the invoice price, not the market price or a resale value.
Step 3: Set the filer status in the token tax calculator
The federal Section 234 amount is higher for a non-filer. A filer is an owner who appears on the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) active taxpayer list. The FBR rate card doubles the amount for everyone else, and the calculator does the same except in Punjab. Punjab follows its own Excise table, which triples it, so Punjab non-filer totals carry an estimate badge.
Token Tax Every Year or Once
Most private cars pay token tax once every fiscal year. Cars up to 1000cc in Punjab are the exception, because Excise Punjab lists a lifetime token of Rs 20,000 for them. Balochistan offers a one-time payment for cars under five years old, Rs 10,500 up to 660cc and Rs 12,000 from 661cc to 1000cc. Sindh also allows a one-time Rs 20,000 for new cars up to 1000cc instead of the annual Rs 1,500.
Islamabad’s Rs 20,000 for cars up to 1000cc is a lifetime token. The Finance Act 2026 for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) prints it as Life Time, although some guides still call it yearly. Confirm the period on the PAK App before you pay. The Islamabad token tax rules page tracks ICT changes.
Car Tax Calculator: Federal Tax Added to Your Token
Every province collects federal advance tax under Section 234 of the Income Tax Ordinance when you pay the token, and the amount depends on engine size, not on invoice value. Filers pay the amounts in the table. Non-filers pay double under the FBR rate card for tax year 2027, and this car tax calculator uses twice the filer amount in every province except Punjab. Excise Punjab’s own table prints three times the filer amount, so the calculator follows it there and flags the total as an estimate.
Engine size | Filer, per year | Non-filer, Punjab Excise (3x) | Non-filer, 2x (FBR card) |
|---|---|---|---|
Up to 1000cc | Rs 800 | Rs 2,400 | Rs 1,600 |
1001 to 1199cc | Rs 1,500 | Rs 4,500 | Rs 3,000 |
1200 to 1299cc | Rs 1,750 | Rs 5,250 | Rs 3,500 |
1300 to 1499cc | Rs 2,500 | Rs 7,500 | Rs 5,000 |
1500 to 1599cc | Rs 3,750 | Rs 11,250 | Rs 7,500 |
1600 to 1999cc | Rs 4,500 | Rs 13,500 | Rs 9,000 |
2000cc and above | Rs 10,000 | Rs 30,000 | Rs 20,000 |
A car that pays a lifetime token pays a one-time federal amount too, which is Rs 10,000 for a filer up to 1000cc. The same table applies in every province. Punjab’s Excise page lists these filer amounts beside its own token table, so cross-check there.
Punjab and Islamabad Token Tax Calculator Rates
Punjab and Islamabad now charge a percentage of invoice value on cars above 1000cc. Both keep a flat Rs 20,000 for cars up to 1000cc. The two schedules differ by 0.05 percentage points in each band.
Punjab
Punjab charges a Rs 20,000 lifetime token up to 1000cc, 0.3% of invoice value from 1001cc to 2000cc and 0.4% above 2000cc. The 2025-26 percentages were 0.2% and 0.3%, so a Rs 3 million car in the middle band moves from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000. A 10% rebate applies to the annual token when the full year is paid by 31 August, and electric vehicles get a 95% exemption on motor vehicle tax. The Punjab token tax calculator covers lifetime tokens, professional tax and the 31 August rebate.
Islamabad
Islamabad’s Finance Act 2026 took effect on 1 July 2026 and replaced fixed amounts with a percentage of invoice value. Cars up to 1000cc pay a flat Rs 20,000, cars from 1001cc to 2000cc pay 0.25% and larger cars pay 0.35%. A 1,500cc car with a Rs 5 million invoice therefore pays Rs 12,500 before the federal amount. The Islamabad token tax calculator page tracks the ICT-specific rules.
Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator: Rates and Example
Sindh charges a fixed annual amount by engine size and does not use invoice value for the annual token. The schedule in the Sindh Finance Act 2019 sets Rs 1,500 up to 1000cc, Rs 2,000 up to 1300cc and Rs 4,000 up to 1600cc. Cars above 1600cc and up to 2000cc pay Rs 4,500, cars up to 2500cc pay Rs 5,000 and larger cars pay Rs 7,000. The Excise Sindh calculator estimates registration costs, so annual token dues come from the Sindh excise tax portal.
A 1,300cc car pays Rs 2,000 as a filer plus Rs 2,500 federal tax, which makes Rs 4,500 in total. The same car in Punjab with a Rs 4.5 million invoice pays Rs 16,200. Sindh’s flat schedule dates from 2019, and the Sindh Finance Act 2026 does not change it.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Token Tax Calculator Rates
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan still use fixed amounts instead of a percentage of invoice value. Neither asks for the invoice price, so the engine size decides the token. Balochistan also looks at the age of the car.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa charges a fixed amount by engine size under Appendix-III of its Finance Act 2024. The rate is Rs 2,000 up to 1000cc, Rs 3,000 up to 1300cc, Rs 4,000 up to 1500cc and Rs 5,000 up to 2500cc, and larger cars pay Rs 8,000. The Finance Act 2026 changed only the rates for passenger vehicles plying for hire, so private car rates stand. The first payment on a vehicle needs a visit to an excise office, where staff check the owner’s filer status by hand.
Balochistan
Balochistan’s schedule depends on the age of the car as well as its engine size. A car of five years or more pays Rs 1,000 a year up to 660cc and Rs 1,100 from 661cc to 1000cc. Cars from 1001cc to 1500cc pay Rs 1,400, cars up to 2000cc pay Rs 1,700 and larger cars pay Rs 2,000. The figures follow the department’s schedule in force from 1 July 2025. The calculator also offers its one-time and lifetime amounts, which fall as the car ages, for example from Rs 17,000 to Rs 13,000 at 1,300cc, plus the federal lump sum.
How to Pay Token Tax Online
Each province has its own channel, and all of them issue a payment slip ID (PSID) that you pay through 1Link, an ATM or a banking app. Punjab uses the ePay Punjab app, and Islamabad uses the PAK App. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa uses the Dastak app. Sindh and Balochistan use web portals instead of apps.
Enter the registration number, let the system show dues and fines, then generate the PSID and pay. Compare the amount with your calculator result before you pay. A difference usually means a fine, a different invoice value or an old vehicle record.
Motorcycles, Commercial Vehicles and Charges Not Included
The calculator covers private cars only. Motorcycle rules sit on the Punjab motorcycle token page. Commercial vehicles are taxed by type, seats or weight, so ask the excise office for an assessment.
The receipt can carry more than the estimate. Earlier token arrears and late-payment penalties are added to the challan, and Sindh also lists a luxury tax at registration for certain cars of 1500cc or more. Registration, transfer and smart-card fees are separate.
Token Tax Calculator Examples With Interpretation
These four examples use filer status and 2026-27 rates. Each shows the provincial token and the federal amount, and Punjab adds its Rs 200 professional tax. Invoice values are round figures, not real vehicles.
Punjab, 1,300cc car, Rs 4.5 million invoice
The total is Rs 16,200. The token is 0.3% of Rs 4,500,000, which is Rs 13,500, and the 1300 to 1499cc band adds Rs 2,500 federal tax and Rs 200 professional tax. Paying the full year by 31 August cuts the token by Rs 1,350. A non-filer pays Rs 7,500 federal tax on the Excise table, which lifts the total to Rs 21,200.
Punjab, 1,000cc car, lifetime token
The total is Rs 30,200, paid once instead of every year. A car up to 1000cc pays a Rs 20,000 lifetime token, a Rs 10,000 federal lump sum for a filer and Rs 200 professional tax. On transfer within ten years of registration, Excise Punjab charges the same Rs 20,000 less 10% for each financial year.
Islamabad, 2,200cc car, Rs 9 million invoice
The Islamabad total is Rs 41,500. The token is 0.35% of Rs 9,000,000, which is Rs 31,500, plus Rs 10,000 federal tax. The same car in Punjab pays 0.4%, or Rs 36,000, plus Rs 10,000 and Rs 200, which makes Rs 46,200. High-value cars therefore pay Rs 4,700 more in Punjab for this invoice.
Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, 1,300cc car
The totals are Rs 4,500 in Sindh, Rs 5,500 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rs 3,900 in Balochistan. Sindh charges Rs 2,000, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs 3,000 and Balochistan Rs 1,400 for a 1,300cc car, and each adds Rs 2,500 federal tax. The Punjab figure for the same car with a Rs 4.5 million invoice is Rs 16,200, which is three to four times higher. The invoice value drives that gap, not the engine size.
Code Snippets: Token Tax Calculator in JavaScript
The function below takes province, cc, invoice value and filer status and returns the token, federal tax and total. Rates sit in plain tables at the top, so a budget change needs one edit per province. It runs in the browser and stores nothing.
Keep the non-filer multiplier in one constant, because it is the least certain input. Round each amount to the nearest rupee. The function does not replace the portal.

Pay token tax only through the official app or portal for your province, and only against a PSID shown for your own registration number. Agents who offer a discount, a lower invoice value or a skipped fine are asking you to share in a falsified record. An unrecorded payment leaves the car with unpaid dues.
Fake calculator sites and apps copy official layouts and ask for CNIC numbers or card details. A real PSID payment needs no card number on a third-party page. Use an online vehicle tax calculator for an estimate, and take the final amount from the official portal.
Token Tax Calculator Errors and Fixes
Most wrong totals trace back to one input, not to the rates. The table lists the usual symptoms, their likely cause and the fix. Check the invoice value and the cc band first.
Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Total far below the portal | Percentage tax skipped in Punjab or Islamabad | Enter the invoice value |
Total above the portal | Non-filer status selected | Check the FBR active taxpayer list |
A 2,001cc car costs more than a 2,000cc one | Higher percentage band | Check the cc on the registration book |
Rs 20,000 shown for a small car | Lifetime or flat token | Check the lifetime and period rules |
Portal adds a fine | Paid after the due date | Pay dues and fines in one PSID |
A portal total that differs by exactly Rs 200 in Punjab is the professional tax. A gap of a few thousand rupees usually points to a different invoice value in the excise record. Ask the excise office to correct the record rather than paying a different figure.
Provinces Compared
The table compares one example car, a filer’s 1,300cc car with a Rs 4.5 million invoice, across all five jurisdictions. Percentage rates put Punjab and Islamabad far above the provinces that still use fixed schedules. Every total includes federal Section 234 tax, and a calculator that skips it understates the receipt.
Province | How the token is set | Example total | Pay with |
|---|---|---|---|
Punjab | 0.3% of invoice, 1001 to 2000cc | Rs 16,200 | ePay Punjab app |
Islamabad | 0.25% of invoice, 1001 to 2000cc | Rs 13,750 | PAK App |
Sindh | Fixed by cc, 2019 schedule | Rs 4,500 | Sindh excise portal |
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | Fixed by cc | Rs 5,500 | Dastak app |
Balochistan | Fixed by cc and age | Rs 3,900 | Balochistan excise portal |

A Rs 1.5 million car pays Rs 4,500 in the Punjab percentage band, which matches Sindh’s Rs 4,500 for cars from 1601cc to 2000cc. The gap widens as the invoice value rises. At a Rs 4.5 million invoice the Punjab token alone is Rs 13,500, against Rs 2,000 in Sindh for a 1,300cc car.
Token Tax Calculator FAQs for Pakistan
These six answers cover the questions behind most wrong totals. Rates follow 2026-27 and can change with a provincial Finance Act. The official portal gives the final amount.
Conclusion
A token tax calculator is only as good as its inputs, and in 2026-27 the invoice value matters in Punjab and Islamabad as much as the cc. Enter the province, the engine size, the invoice value and your filer status, then compare the total with the portal. Fixed schedules in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan make the totals far lower for the same car.
Rates come from official schedules and gazetted acts, so recheck them each July when budgets change. Use the provincial pages for Punjab and Islamabad detail, and pay only through the official channels. Keep the PSID receipt as proof of payment.
